CSR @ Mitchell McDermott –
1000km cycle around Ireland

OCTOBER 2020
Our first ever Mitchell McDermott Charity Cycle fundraiser has ended and we wish to extend a huge THANK YOU to everyone that made a donation, big or small. Mitchell McDermott are proud to make a €5,000 donation on behalf of all the team to top off the incredible support received from staff, their friends and family, and our wider network of industry colleagues. Together we raised an incredible €25,405 for Women’s Aid and ISPCC‘s Childline. Both of our chosen charities have experienced a significant increase in contacts to their services this year, and the funds raised will help them in their work supporting women and children across Ireland experiencing abuse and other adversities
We were delighted to receive the thank you messages below from Sarah Benson, CEO of Women’s Aid, and John Church, ISPCC Childline Chief Executive. Thank you to both charities for the incredible work you do, which we are proud to support.
“On behalf of all of the children and young people who turn to Childline, thank you so much to everyone at Mitchell McDermott for your extraordinary support shown through your recent charity cycle. By raising both funds and awareness, you have helped to make sure every child and young person in Ireland will have somewhere they can turn 24 hours a day, every day, this winter and beyond. Childline relies on donations for over 90 per cent of the funding which keeps us listening to children. Thank you for your generosity in helping us answer their call.”
-John Church, ISPCC Childline Chief Executive
“We are thrilled to receive such a generous donation from Mitchell McDermott and its supporters to help with our vital work with women and families experiencing domestic abuse. Covid-19 has shone a further light on the crisis of domestic violence in homes across Ireland. As we all retreated to our homes for safety, it became increasingly clear that home is not a safe place for everyone. Trapped with abusers and denied outlets that may have offered them support and respite in the face of abuse before, women came up with ingenious ways to get in touch with us. Women called us from their car, from the garden shed, from the bathroom with the shower running. Our frontline services have been stretched to the limit and this donation means that we are now able to increase cover on the 24hr National Freephone Helpline 1800341900 now and in 2021 to maximise our availability to callers seeking support day or night. Thank you to everyone who took part and supported the Charity Cycle 2020.”
-Sarah Benson, CEO of Women’s Aid
